Tips

We have designed all of our tree growing kits so that you have the best chance of succeeding in growing your own tree. Easy and detailed start-up instructions, high-quality seeds or babytree, and soil specially designed for your tree will make getting started easy and exciting. When the tree growing kit arrives, follow the getting started instructions to get to the start easily and smoothly.

Tip 1.
Choose your trees habitat carefully

Make sure that the place where your tree is growing is suitable for it - one where it receives light and heat according to the instructions.
As a general guideline avoid places where there is a radiator or underfloor heating directly under the pot. They easily dry out the roots and that if anything can be fatal to your tree.
However if the best place for your tree in terms of light is on a heat source, such as underfloor heating, lift the pot with a grate, level, etc. so that it is off the warm surface.

Tip 2.
Water just right

Each tree species is unique and so is their need for water. What fits one may not fit another tree. Avoid under- or over-watering as they are the most common reason that a tree may not feel well. If your tree is drooping try a change in the amount and density of watering. Together you will learn what works and what doesn't. However, one general rule applies to all trees - the roots must never be allowed to dry out completely because if that happens the tree will not survive.
Lemon and olive trees in particular love spraying with a bottle of water, and if you bother to take them occasionally (1 time / month) in the shower, they will thank you by getting sturdy and ruffle.

Tip 3.
Light is really important

If water is a basic condition of life, the other is light. Tree species have a different requirements for the amount of the light they need. From October to March we recommend using a simple plant lamp (except for a common fig that winters in the twilight). We guarantee that your tree will fall in love with the plant lamp and you will see the result in its well-being quickly. Even Airam's 10W Led plant lamp is an excellent lamp, our olive and lemon trees like them very much!

You can place a plant lamp bulb on any lamp. It is best if you can put the lamp to hang above the tree - leave a space of at least 30 centimeters between the lamp and the top of the tree.
If you need to install the lamp on the side, turn the pot at regular intervals so that the tree gets light everywhere.
Let the plant lamp light for 6-10 hours a day. Turn off the light for the night because then the trees will sleep.

Tip 4.
Regular fertilization = happy tree

The soil must be fertilized at regular intervals otherwise it will become poorer and the soil will no longer receive the nutrients it needs. See the Getting Started pamphlet for advice on fertilizing your tree and how keep your tree happy.
Moderation is important in fertilization - if you fertilize too much, the soil can become concentrated and then it becomes more difficult for the tree to get water from the soil. This is usually noticed by the fact that the tips of the leaves or needles turn brown.

Tip 5.
When the space becomes cramped it is time to change to a larger pot

Once your tree has grown into a solid little seedling, 5 to 25 centimeters tall depending on the species, it’s time to move it to a bigger pot.

1. Make sure there is a hole in the bottom of the new pot where excess water can drain away. Cover the hole with paper, the filter paper of the coffee machine works perfectly.

2. Place a fair layer of gravel on the bottom of the new pot. Next, add a thin layer of soil suitable for your tree.

3. Use scissors to make a few holes in the bottom of the growth bag and move the small tree in the bag to a larger pot. Add soil.

4. Place a saucer under the pot, water and place the tree to the place of growth. We are ready!
